Handler was diagnosed with cancer of breasts in 1989. She ended up dying after fighting cancer for ten years. Her father was Jewish as was her mother, and she born into Reform Judaism. Handler lived in a safe area and enjoyed a pleasant childhood. She emigrated to Los Angeles when she was 19, to explore acting. Handler began performing to earn money. Handler was able to perform stand-up comics full-time once she reached the age of 21. She had discovered that she is gifted at telling stories. Beginning Of career Handler started out her career in the Oxygen network's all-female cast of a hidden camera/practical joke reality television series Girls Behaving in a Bad Way. The show ran from 2002 through 2005. Handler began appearing in different shows like Weekends at D.L., The Bernie Mac Show, The Practice and My Wife and Kids. Handler started her journey as a correspondent for The Tonight Show. Handler made her breakthrough after 2006 when she began running her own talk show for E! It was titled The Chelsea Show. It lasted two seasons. Handler was then seen in the United States in the Comedy Central Hour Stand-Up Comedy Tour. VH1, Comedy Central Premium Blend, HBO and Comedy Central have all broadcasted her stand-up shows. In 2010, it was announced that she would be hosting MTV's Video Music Awards in 2010.
